The association Svenska Musikfestivaler is devoted to marketing, information, exchange of experiences and other issues of mutual interest to the affiliated festivals. Rikskonserter supports the association.

SMF has 40 members in a variety of genres - Chamber Music, Jazz, Opera, Folk Music, Ballads, Wind Music, Electronic Music, Choir Music, Gospel, Organ Music, Pop & Rock, Early Music, et al.

SMF is a multi level organization. The members' festivals are being introduced into the market both nationally and internationally. Each festival will hereby, together with other festivals, be part of a greater whole. The marketing comprises the home page, a yearly folder, advertising and communication with the press together with other promotional activities.

Through SMF the festivals get improved publicity both domestically and in Europe.

We are a member of The European Festivals Association (EFA) and cooperate with other networks such as NorwayFestivals and Finland Festivals. We also organize member conferences.

The importance of the festival concept is mirrored by SMF's cultural policy, a matter discussed with the Parliament, the Government and other political authorities. Our goal is to bring about an improved status for the festivals and find an opening in getting direct subsidies.
